Pro Arte Quartet

The Pro Arte Quartet is celebrating their 100th anniversary this season. I went to their opening concert last month and really enjoyed their performance, especially David Perry (1st violin) and Parry Karp (cello). The Quartet will have their second concert tomorrow (Nov 19th), again in the Mills Hall, University of Wisconsin-Madison. The program includes the world premiere of Paul Schoenfield’s Three Rhapsodies for Piano Quintet with Brian Hsu (piano), Shostakovich’s string quartet No. 4 in D major Op. 83, and Beethoven’s string quartet in c-sharp minor Op. 131.

The Taiwanese pianist, Brian Hsu, is currently completing the DMA degree at the University of Michigan.

As a violin player, I am thankful that the University has such a great quartet reside here in Madison, providing wonderful (and free!) concerts to the community. Below is a clip from the open rehearsal yesterday. I’m looking forward to the concert tomorrow night.
